Mimic FAQ

Can Mimic access local pages?

No. Mimic is a web service and can only process URLs publicly accessible on the internet.

Are there any other i-mode emulators that can access local pages?

Yes. The best emulator is found in the Windows version of Adobe GoLive which includes the Netfront browser used by most i-mode mobiles.

Docomo also provides a somewhat nasty i-mode simulator Windows only.

Why is Mimic's screen much larger than my mobile screen?

The physical size of one pixel on most mobile screens is much smaller than one pixel on a computer screen so 240 pixels will take up more physical space on a computer screen than a mobile screen.

I don't want emulators accessing my mobile site. How can I prevent Mimic from doing this?

The simplest method is to bar access to your mobile site from Mimic's IP address 72.47.248.62.

Mimic doesn't work, what should I do?

Contact me with a description of what went wrong, the URL you wanted to emulate, and the web browser version you were using with Mimic.
