Getting annoyed with the impending iPhone launch

Annoyed

The impending iPhone launch is really starting to annoy me for several reasons:

• Apple makes great kit, kit I love and fill my home and office with but the iPhone doesn't justify the mass hysteria in the media and blogspace, even in the mobile wasteland of the US. It is one sexy mobile but it is still a mobile with features found in other mobiles and missing a lot of features found in many others.
• Tech blogs that have a history of solid mobile reporting and should know better are getting excited over features that have been around for some time. Cell based navigation is old: google "Beer" in central London from any mobile and you'll know what I mean. AJAX on mobiles is not new: the webkit browser in 3rd edition S60 mobiles support AJAX apps as does the currently in beta Opera Mobile 9.
• Oh, and I can't get one in Japan ;)
