ColorCodes offer colourful QR code alternative

I first noticed ColorCodes appearing in Japanese TV commercials where I suspect you would have a hard time reading a QR code.

Already popular in South Korea, ColorCodes embed a URL which you read via a ColorCode reader available for many Japanese mobiles. Although they don't offer the advanced bookmark, email and phone book functions found in mobile QR codes, using colour means the can embed more information at lower resolutions and also offer some interesting design possibilities:
