About Pukupi
Pukupi is the almost personal site of Kyle Barrow and is a mobile space for articles, blog, tools and resources. I can usually be found in Osaka's Minamisenba district where I spend most of my time developing for both the mobile and immobile web.
"Puku" is a common New Zealand expression and means belly or stomach in Maori. "Pukupi" is an interesting Japanese kana combination with no meaning whatsoever but scores well on my Mobile Domainatron with no modal changes or repeat keys.
This version of Pukupi went live on 2007-06-12.
Publications
Wallace, P., Hoffmann, A., Scuka, D., Blut, Z., Barrow, K. (2002). I-mode developer's guide. Boston: Addison-Wesley.- While it does not cover Flash and other technologies available on the latest mobiles, this is an excellent introduction to both i-mode and mobile web development. You can learn more about it at Amazon.com.
Colophon
Pukupi is currently developed on a gorgeous Apple MacBook Pro.
The information architecture was mapped with OmniGraffle Professional and built with a variety of tools including BBEdit and CSSEdit depending on my mood. All graphics were produced with a combination of Illustrator and Photoshop.
The title graphic features my partner's yukata with an ancient V801SA tucked into the obi and uses Jason Kottke's excellent Silkscreen font.
